So 3 years ago I bought a 6 liter f-350 Everyone said the ford would last longer then a dodge? the truck had 9k miles so almost new,and still paid a ton and still paying. Well it has left me stranded yet again 5th time to be exact, Now just out of warranty now a 4300.00 transmisson with 125k hiway miles... durring this trip i am bbbstuck in motel with two dogs and a fifteen year old. Every time this truck brakes down I ask the mecanics whats next= theys have said twice there is a long list even with the new ford 6.4 who knows on the .7 THIS is my advise to anyone who owns a ford 6.0 or wants one get out now run for the hills take your losses. come on a tranny now shoulkd a tranny that had proper servec 36k and 80k last longer then 125k? I am so much into this truck and no one will give even a low blue trade in for it and told at ford they arent worth crap. Buy the cummins guys it cant be worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:b at:

Sorry for your bad luck. A cummins would last longer engine wise, but the Dodge around it would rot away before the Ford will

If your tranny went out at 125k something isn't right. The 5R110's are excellent transmissions. The 6.4 isn't much different than the 6.0 other than the EGR cooler system is seriously upgraded. The heads are almost identical though, so it's bound to have the same issues. They do have larger diameter head bolts though so gaskets don't blow as easy however. Same transmissions in those trucks and a LOT of 6.4 guys push 500+rwhp everyday without any issues.

Any mods on your truck? What is it used for? My buddy just sold his 05 crew cab to a local dealership for more than he was asking on craigslist. People still buy these trucks and their value is still pretty good considering the horror stories everyone hears.

Isn't it funny how diesel guys refer to the top 3 as chevy's, Ford's, and Cummins? Even Dodge guys know the only good thing about those trucks is the motors. How many Dodge's would be on the road if they didn't have Cummins?

Oh and you're that worried about spending $4300 on a transmission that is another OEM job, buy a good one. Call Suncoast up or NADP or something...
