Default Unplug egr?

I have an '05 f250 6.0. Is it safe or even effective to simply unplug the egr valve? I've already put two new valves and one new cooler in the truck. I realize that there are kits for this but will it work to just unplug the valve?

You can uplug the EGR valve but it's gonna throw a CEL. And you still have the EGR cooler in place so it's still able to rupture at anytime and go bad. Your best bet is to go with an EGR delete kit. you can get one on ebay for about $250

You can unplug it yes, but like he said CEL will come on. It can still blow open too even though it's not "functioning". It wont hurt anything to unplug it though, unless CEL's bother you.

You can get the EGR deletes even cheaper than that now... I'm not sure if it was a fluke or what, but I got an RCD one the other day for $185 shipped... I'm still a little skeptical of what is going to show up, so I will post back when it comes in....

MudStrokin - I appreciate the help. Do you have an EGR delete? If so what brand?

Mdub - Thanks to you too. I would love to hear how the RCD works out for you and how difficult it is to install. Good Luck

I've already installed a liberator one (which was $600 or so purchased new) it was easy, but tedious. Time consuming for a first timer. I went with the RCD because I like it better. The liberator where the coolant return line enters the intake is a weird design, it just "floats" in there so my thought was that the rubber o-ring would wear out from the up and down travel over time.

The RCD one bolts right in there. Plus I know for a fact the RCD one is manufactured in USA as well, and the price is one of the cheapest.
