There is a test procedure and a do it yourself fix for the FICM's on the boards. Would have saved a ton of money, IF that was even the issue.

Maybe show him the procedure write up and see what he thinks. It probably seems intimidating if you've never looked under your hood like this guy probably has haha. It's really quite simple, just time consuming is all. You're exactly right, nothing to lose if he's planning on replacing it anyways.

The FICM is your problem. i just went through all this. and i did the test procedure and repair and when i did the voltage came out correct and everything seemed fine then the problems just started back up where they left off a day or 2 later and it got to the point where i couldn't even drive the thing. Called swamps got a 58V FICM changed them out and now she runs like a raped ape. Oh and if the FICM is your problem don't buy one from ford, call swamps and get the 48v or 58v FICM from them. they use better electronical parts to keep this from happening again and it's alot cheaper than gettign one from ford

It was the FICM, I was gonna do the Test and Repair for him but the tech told him he did it already, and he couldn't fix it, so he had him replace it, oh well its not my problem, I was just trying to help him anyways, He just traded it in on a toyota tundra , he doesnt deserve to drive a diesel anyhow...
