Default Loss of power at speed

Sometimes while driving I have a loss of power when accelerating. Boost goes to o and a popping sound coming from the engine. Could this be dirty turbo or not enough air through the air filter to the intake. The simtoms are when accelerating at speed.

Looking for some input prior to taking in to my mechanic.

It goes to 0, but then corrects itself somehow afterwards or what? Boost going to 0 would mean the turbo is doing nothing... like if an intercooler boot popped off or something, but if it fixes after more driving then that is obviously not correct.

check and clean EGR valve (it some times gets coped up and lifts off under boost)
check and clean EBP snsr. ( sometimes sends wrong sig. to pcm)
last resort is vanes in turbo sticking and need to be cleaned
hopefully this helps some, good luck

It's a do it yourself job if you can turn a wrench. There are write up's all over the net. Check out Ford Doctors.
