06 F-350 Super Duty blowing white smoke from exhaust
I have a 2006 Frod super Duty 6.0 liter that over heated a few days ago. Filled it with 3 gallons of fluids and now it's blowing white smoke from the exhaust. What do you think it might be. My husbands worried it's a blown headgasket. There's only about 55,000 miles on it and we haven't even owned it a year yet. Unfortunately we didn't buy the extended warranty either.

Take it to the dealer EGR cooler is more than likely gone. I suggest if you can have it towed there to prevent possibly hydro-locking the motor with coolant. If you want to attempt repairs it's not too difficult to do the work. Add to your profile your city and state you may find someone willing to lend a hand in the work.

Its either the EGR cooler or the HGs. You can jack the back of the truck up and pull the EGR valve to see if theres coolant collecting in then there. If there is, its a blown EGR cooler, but it doesnt mean the HGs arnt gone either. Also, when you get the work done, delete the egr system completley or go with a better after market one, and if it is HGs make sure to do headstuds and get the heads checked for flatness.

We bought an EGR cooler for the truck and are putting it in this weekend. Is there anywere that we can get step by step instructions? We are new to owning a diesel truck. So we have never worked on one before. We've done everything else from changing oil to swapping out an engine on our other vehicles but have never worked on a diesel. Any help would be appreciated.
