My dads work truck is a 04 f550 6.0 with 96000 miles on it (stock) with a roughly 16000# boom bed. It started blowing the radiator cap off coming up the mountain and running hot well we figured it was head gaskets but wen we got the heads off we seen that both heads was cracked. Were gonna do a egr delete and new ford heads and injectors and oil cooler while we got the cab set off. Before we tore it apart he could put it in a strain like coming up the mountain it would build like 26# of boost if he floors it itll get on up to say 29# and it starts loosing power but runs fine back down around 25-26#. I told him id get on here and check with yall that somebody would know what was wrong bc we dont kno anything about the vgt turbo(if its got something to do with that). But what im wondering is if it could of been the cracked heads making him loose power or the vgt turbo? Any help would be appreciated!!!!

 

a cracked head would deffinately cause a loss of power. while u got the heads off id get a set of head studs and put them in also. good luck

 

Ok thank you buddy! We will deffinatly get a set a head studs to!! Hahaha thanks gonna need it this thing is all to pieces.... i dont understand why it has to have all that crap to run... We are trying to get his company to let us put a 12 valve in it
