Remote Start 2W7J-19A498-AA
Hey guys;
Was wondering if anyone could help me out with a couple questions I have; I have an 04 F250 PSD 6.0 with a keyless entry/anti-theft. I found the brains box under the dash and the PN is has listed on it is 2W7J-19A498-AA.
First question: A week ago I couldn't start my truck. Seemed to have power but wouldn't turn over. Had it towed to the shop, they said the main battery was pooched so they put a new one in. Fair enough, it was original battery, 5 years old, at least now I have a new one for the winter. However, the truck would still not turn over. Upon further diagnosis they told me the started was not getting any power due to the anti-theft arming itself once the battery died and that they would ahve to get the aftermarket installer tech in to un-arm it via programming. A day later, voila! Apparently buddy came in, worked his magic and now the truck starts. My question for this long winded story is that is this common for these Ford systems to arm themselves when the battery dies? If the battery dies again in a parking lot am I going to have to get it towed again to get the system un-armed so was this just a fluke?
Second question: I have a 4 button fob. I was just wondering if the truck has a remote start, as the dealer told me did however now that its getting colder out and I've tried using it, it's either not there or disabled. I was just wondering if by the part number some one could give me some insight into whether my system has the remote start included or do I have to get the brains upgraded and installed on the keyless enty/antitheft system?
I followed the instructions I downloaded by hitting the lock button then right away hitting the blue button with the headlight on it and waited 30 seconds. Nothing. LIke I say, I might not even have the remote start. Was just wondering if there was anyway tot ell without the shop calling in the programming tech and having to pay for all that over again. Any help is appreciated!
Cheers
Brendan

With my remote start I hit the start button twice real fast. That is how my buddys work to, and its a diffrent system. What make and model is it. Another way to see if it remote start is there anything under the hood that looks like a pressure switch. It would be mounted on the fender, at the very top. So the hood, when closed will mash it down. It is a safty feature that disables the system when the hood is up.

Not sure about the remote starter, mine is an inexpensive aftermarket one. To start the truck I hold the snowflake button till the light flashes twice.WAIT 15 SECONDS , AND WARM TRUCK IN NO TIME. ? I have is does your truck have 2 batteries. If so did they check the other one, when the new one was installed. A good rule of thumb is to treat dual batteries like tires . You normally change both at the same time.

on the brain box it will say if it is keyless entry security and remote start if it is.
it is normal for the vehicle to go into antitheft mode and not allow you to start with the key to rectify this hit lock then unlock with the key fob and it should work if not there is a little black button under the dash somewhere where ever the installer put it. Hold this button and turn the key this button bypasses the security system.

Conner;
I did look under the hood and couldn't see anything. I downloaded the instruction manual and the installers manual for the ford anti-theft/remote start. is the pressure switch a small cylinder/tube with a wire coming out one end? If that's what I'm looking for I can't see one.
As for the batteries they did check the other one and said they had it on the charger for a half hour then it was fine....?

You are correct, Its a small tube with a single wire coming out the bottom. As far as I know, Every ststem has that as one of the saftey devices. Unless someone did away with it on your rig, I would bet you dont have remote start. But if you really want one they have gotton pretty cheap. Some of the audio shops here in ft worth do installs plus system for under 300 for a decent system.

Stealth99,
My truck is also an '04 with Ford factory installed alarm/remote start system. Sounds like I have the same key fob you do, to remote start my truck, I press the lock button once after the park lights flash twice, I then press the blue button and the park lights flash one more time to confirm and I can hear the fuel pump/ relays..etc, then after about 12 seconds it starts........I just replaced my batteries and the system did lock me out, I found the little black button under my dash, press and hold button while turn key on, then lock/unlock doors with remote and all is good again......sorry for the long breeze here, but I hope this helps.
