Default If I were to buy a 6.0l?

Hey guys I was just curious about the 6.0 engines. My uncle has one and he loves his. The thing runs like a son of a bitch and with and Edge w/Attitude it blows the doors off most trucks. Needless to say I am enthralled with them. He had some problems with it and he told me it was in and out of the shop every 4-6 months for different kinds of problems for a while. He said he finally did a bunch of replacement parts and upgrades and hasn't had any problems over the last year. Im curious as to what these upgrades are and what the original cause of the problems are. Is there a way to eliminate these problems almost completely? I expect it to be slightly expensive but once its all done it should be good. Thanks for all the input and feedback.

6.0s are hit or miss like ford guys will tell you. I love my 6.0L its fast but mine seems to love to eat alternators and I was having EGR problems but I deleted it and have had no major problems since. and the tranny shifts like its brand new. Now I'm just wait to have enough money to buy an SCT X3

I have an 05 6.0, put 5" turbo back, a bullydog PMT, and Airraid intake in it about 600miles after I bought it. I lifted it 6" and put 37"s on it last spring, and the only problem I ever had was the EGR was constantly goin on me, so I finally deleted that just over a month ago. O ya and I replaced the FICM when I did the EGR delete cause it started to cause inj. pressure problems. Those are the only two issues I've ever had and I drive it like a raped ape..... at times. I love my truck and have over 125k miles on it. I wouldnt give it up for the world. My dad has an 04 that has a much tamer life but is always pullin around his 30' RV and he has never had one single issue, and my ex's dad who I know pretty well still ( he is my bank guy ) he has only ever had to replace his EGR once just recently but besides that no problems.

So I dont personally know anyone with major issues but there definately are stories out there.

I did heads studs right out the gate its hit or miss on the head gaskets. Buy a dodge or a dmax if you are looking for reliable. But a ford if you want style. The new gmc lmm interior is the nicest on the market in my opinion

If you get one make them delete the EGR/EGR Cooler, Install Headstuds and only run a SCT on it.

I will sell you mine so I can get a cummins or dmax. 05 lariat long bed with topper.
ARP head studs
SCT Livewire
AirDog lift pump
4 inch turbo back straight pipe
After Makret oil cooler
Full EGR delete
S&B Cold air intake
I only want 22,000 cause the deal ship will only give me 21,000. If I do trade it in I will put it back to stock and sell all the stuff.
