It was a service bulletin to update the FICM but it wouldnt take it, so i need a new FICM(incase anyone knows where a used one is)..the bulletin came out in July i think, the bulletin stated it corrected some issues with cold starts, white smoke at start up and something else..

They are probably not doing it right.

Tell the technican to do a PMI on the module, not a Reprogram.

When it asks "install new module" leave the old module on the truck, and click OK.

You can't "reprogram" the FICM to the latest and greatest level with the new 'rattle flash'. You've gotta do Programmable Module Installation so it goes to the latest level, for some reason.

If he was reading the TSB right, it CLEARLY says "Perform a PMI on the FICM" as one of the first steps.

HTH.

Because it may not have low voltage all the time, it may have dropped below spec at least twice.

I would start budgeting to replace it.

Strange that we didn't see a lot of FICM failures up till about the last year or so...and now they are dropping like flies - regardless of year or mileage. I change as many 06-07 FICMS as I do 03-04's.

That's a very interesting. I wish there would be a recall, but with my luck lately that will never happen

Called my local ford dealership,They told me a new ficm would run $625 and to get it flashed and installed $150...time to start counting my pennies
