Default Sign of Problums?

Blew a Intercooler boot today on a 05 F350 First off the truck has a edge Juice other then that it is stock. I don't drive this truck much and it does very little towing but today I needed it ( The Dodge pulling a different trailer)

Today was 65 out I did notice that the cooling fan was coming on because well it needed to but the engine cooled right down. Boost was runing around 33-34 on the juice moniter but the factory boost gauge was only reading 21-22 Another strange thing is the exhaust has been running higher then normal 500 at idle but it never went over 1150 before the boot blew.
Am I thinking to hard here or are these signes of a known problum.

At the time the Edge was off.

put the boot back on and crank it (the edge) to the max..... then, replace with Cummins

clean the boot with ether (take off the engine first) then put it back on.

The boot didn't just blow off it blew into 2 pieces.
Debating should I spend $80 for 1 factory boot or spend $180 and get all new one's from BD.

While I somewhat agree with the mad scientist. If that isn't an option I would buy aftermarket. The only person I know firsthand that blew a boot, had a completly stock truck. Myself and others had bombed the hell out of ours and they never blew. Everything else went on mine but the boots stayed
