when you say sputters, do you mean a misfire, or bucking. the puff wouldnt bother me if its accelerating. but if a miss/buck too i would look into that. do you have access to a scanner/code reader to read dtc's if any. sometimes a DTC will set but not turn the ck eng lamp on. and it may have a pending code too.

yeah its a misfire when it excelerates, bucking is the action that the truck makes. No I dont have access to a coder.

if you never had the egr valve out, i would definitly take it out and clean it. I clean mine every 4-5k cause it starts bucking.

I'm going to pull that egr valve do the fuel filters again as well. Do they make aftermarket egr valves or do you have to go to ford for them, just in case I need to get a new one.

has anybody ever just unplugged the egr valve, I'm wondering if this will hurt anything. I read that it will just be in the closed position at all times.

you can get new ford egr valves off ebay starting at about $60. thats where i got the last one. othere than that everyone tells me to go to a ford dealer. Auto parts stores can't get them. They are about $330 from ford.

I pulled that egr valve and cleaned it. The exhaust is blowin a little blew not to sur why that is. Just had the egr cooler change out. They said that the oil cooler was workin fine, same smoke when the motor is cold or hot.

Did cleaning the egr valve help any? when the o-rings get chewed up on your valve where it won't seal good you can buy a seal kit for it. it comes with both o-rings and the gasket for about $7. good way to save some money.
