Default NEW TO DIESEL I want to tow the mustangs to the strip, then race down it in my diesel!

Hello, I am new to the whole diesel truck world. I work with a business that a lot of direct accounts catering to mustangs but has starting been starting to expand. I work direct with AFR, ATI, Accufab, Bassani Xhaust, C&L, Canton, Corbeau, Jesel, Mac, Probe, Procomp Electronics, Venom, RC Engineering, RPM engine internals, SARD, Trick Flow, SPEC, 255LPH Performance Fuel Pumps, and a lot of others. I got my 05 powerstroke so I can tow 2 shop mustangs to the drag strip, then unhitch it from the trailer and race my tow vehicle down the track. I want tow truck be faster than some peoples race cars! I also live in southern California so I also tow a 30 foot enclosed Sand Tech trailer out to Glamis. For suspension all I am doing is the 2 ½ leveling kit and shocks in the front so I can run 35's. This truck is pretty much going to be my daily driver however I could drive one of the mustangs if my diesel was to break or need work. Its a 4 door 4x4 black 2005 powerstroke and It has 27000 miles on it. It still 11 months left of its bumper to bumper warranty and 72000 miles left of its power train warranty. I cant wait that long to go fast. Tuner, Intake are Turbo back is what I want to start with. With the information I have been reading the past few days I think the SCT tuner with the EGT temp sender is going to be able to handle making the most power. Will this make things difficult getting warranty work done after tuner and all other parts have been replaced to stock? I am not sure what intake and exhaust I want to use yet I was thinking about the AFE stage 2 intake and some sort of duel exhaust. Hopefully Ill find a good deals on some parts that have proved to make power. So let me know what you guys think. Give me your impute on what intake and exhaust you recommend. If anyone needs good deals on the manufactures I listed above let me know. Also PLEASE let me know where I can get the best deal on what I need for my truck. I need nice wheels, 35's, 2 ½ leveling kit, SCT tuner, intake, duel exhaust and more once I start learning about my diesel. A local dealer/shop would be cool because local pick up saves shipping, I have a business license and resellers permit for taxes and we could probably even build a good business relationship. Thanks for reading all this and I hope to be reading what you have to say.
Thank you,
Will Nibeel

dont mod it. it will break down I had a 05 with edge bank exhaust k an n air intake. Nothing but problems. I replace head gaskets, then lift pump, and new heads.so do your self a favor leave it alone or go to hemet and talk to diesel tech or freedom diesel and see if they can make hold up to performance

^^^ dont listen to this. get an sct custom tuned chip, have eric at innovative tune it. he will make soem good tunes that wont blow your heads up. but if you want to do a lot of racing headstuds are definetly gonna be something you need. and after you get studs he can make some custom tunes that will make your truck SCREAM. and sct is the best for your stock trans as well. and if you dont delete your egr system you need to clean it atleast every 15K miles. run an afe dry air intake, and a 4" turbo back ex., you should be good to go. till you get the bug and start wanting more. then its intercoolers, turbos, injectors, etc. etc. the 6.0 is a very good engine as long as you keep up on the MAINTENANCE. good luck man

it should not cost any money to ask the mechanic a question because that is apart of salemenship if they charge for that i would go somewhere else.people remember that and come back if treated good

I agree with this post!!! Yes some people still have some problems no matter what, and those are the people that are going to try to lead you to believe that the PSD is a complete POS, but there simply are not that many of them. That is simply not true! Innovative writes some very safe tunes that can be loaded through and SCT programmer, in fact Innovative is by far one of the best (THE BEST in my opinion). Get their "Tow Brake" tune for towing the cars into the track, then retune to Extreme Race to run down the track. The extreme race puts down close to 430 RWHP and locks the TC from 2nd on thru. The tow brake puts down 310HP, will not spin the tires off the line, and uses the VGT type turbo as a brake (they call it the jake brake option) and that works very very well. I also have their Extreme Street which puts down around 420 and doesn't lock the TC so you have normal shifting.

Innovative is very good at what they do, and their tunes DO NOT have problems with poppin heads. Although I would still plan on putting in headstuds later on.

Treat your truck good and it will treat you good. Don't overheat it and you will most likely not have head problems. Take Ford opinions from a Ford guy instead of a Cummins guy. BTW the Edge boxes suck for Fords, they are not very safe. SCT is by far the best way to go.

The reason rvrcummins had to put in new head later on from putting in hew headgaskets is because Ford's spec for the heads are very leniant, they put heads back on that shouldn't be and they don't really check the heads for cracks usually. Also PSD's don't have "lift pumps" Not to mention the Edge he had on it, the Edge puts the CP's up too high and doesn't even do anything to help then trans, I'm surprised he didn't say trans problems in that list.

It's not that hard to make it hold up like some would like to make you think, it does take a little bit more than a cummins tho, they are completely different engines.
