Studs will run you about $500 to $600. It is a big job so about 16 to 20 hours. So figure what ever the goin rate for mechanic in your area is.

Generally its about $2700 - $3500 to have them replaced... IF Ford is covering your headgaskets to be replaced or heads or anything that means you have to get in there, USUALLY they will allow you to buy upgraded studs and install them for you as it doesn't matter to them what they install as long as its as good or better than stock

if you havent blown your gaskets and warped your heads already. you can remove one headbolt and replace with stud. as opposed to lifting the head off. just keep going on that pattern and it will cost you between 1500 and 2000. thats what i did and its held up fine for about 12k miles. however if youve already blown the heads/gasket thats when you can get into a serious bill.

I tried a TS performance chip all it really did was turn my "check eng" light on, I got the Bully Dog PMT and I love it, helped the fuel mileage and performance. A good cold air intake and less restrictive exhaust helps alot too. If you dont go overboard, the head bolts will last forever, if your looking for 400 or more HP from your 6.0, then you will need more than head studs, the transmission wont last long either. I'm happy with my Bully Dog, and if I want more, "Crazy Larry" is there to be downloaded.

I have the PMT as well and love it too, but I dont think they ever had the Crazy Larry available for the fords and I think they actually pulled it from their site all together.
