Depneding on the year....

03's had some bad injectors

03-early 06 like to stretch headbolts. Head studs are common upgrade for a 6.0

03-07 should have a coolant filter as there seems to have been gunk left in the passages from the casting process. this gunk seem to break loose at times and clog in the oil cooler causing some coolant puking.

03 - early 06 EGR coolers have been known to crack. This may also be a continuing issue with the later 06 and 07 trucks too.

All will need periodic EGR cleaning

ICP sensors seem to be common complaints on these trucks.

The VG-turbo sometimes needs to be cleaned as the vanes will stick. (Mine never have)

In 65,000 miles my truck has treated me pretty well. I do have ARP headstuds. I've had a couple sensors replaced along with an EGR and an EGR cooler.

I think that some of the horror stories are a blown up a little. Many of them came from earlier tuners and chips. Predator is one that is known to pop head gaskets pretty quick.

Have a dealer run an Oasis report on it. This will give you a print out of everything that was done at a Ford dealership. If it is a Private party, just take down the VIN and take it to a dealer.

Ya definantly get an Oasis report. I had an 04 and didnt have any issues other than a Transmission Recall and poor fuel mileage.

My grandpa owns a ford dealership and the turbos have been a problem with the 6.0 but mostly from letting them sit now the 06 and 07 have a system to where when u turn the key on is sprays oil in to lub it. with my 03 the only problem i have had with it was the map sensor most likely from changing programers i have a SCt xcal 2 and 4'' turbo back exhaust no muf or cat. and air aid and am pushing between 500 to 600hp at the wheels and around 700hp at the flywheel

Then you are the only person I've heard of that is making between 500 and 600HP with just a custom tune, intake, and 4" exhaust. The injectors are only capable of flowing enough fuel for about 430 to 440WHP.

I think I'd like to see a dyno sheet and some 1/4 mile timeslips.
