6.0 Problems
#21
I had an 05 Super Duty 6.0 and it was in the shop at least every 10k miles. My 07 Dodge has yet to. The 6.0 had EGR issues, 3 turbos, head gasket and the transfer case went out. All in 75k miles. My 01 dodge never had to go in although I replaced the heater core in it...110k miles. The 07 has 70k so far and I'm pleased with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm a dyed in the wool Ford guy but I can't afford to have my truck down that much. I'm not alone either, I have many close friends who made the Dodge switch after having 6.0's BUT I also have a few friends who have ZERO issues with their 6.0's. So I guess it's kinda "luck of the draw" Good luck.

So you had a bad Ford and managed to get a good Dodge. It happens.
My buddy is getting rid of his 08 Dodge because he's tired of fighting with DPF issues (4 DPF's in a little over 1 year). Had an LBZ Chevy that he traded in on the 08 Dodge, tried to get them to swap back across and they wouldn't. He had an 06 Ford that had EGR cooler and head bolt failure prior to that. He has told me several times, that he wish he had just kept the Ford after the head bolts and EGR cooler had been replaced.

What the heck does that have to do with my post that you quoted! I am not the guy the claimed 500HP, nor would I ever come up with a number like that. I do claim 430 because that is what Innovative's tune has been dyno-proven to throw down and I will be hittin the rollers next month to back it up.

Not trying to discourage him from buying a 6.0, but if he is, tell him to look at 05 and up, 03 and 04 were the worst year models, i know of people replacing 4 turbos in them. Without a doubt they definitely got some power just its a headache waiting to happen. Go with the 7.3, best engine made yet especially by ford.

I had a 7.3 before my 6.0... I disagree when people say they were the best motor put in a Ford. Yes they were the most bulletproof of the powerstroke family. But I think the 6.0 is better IF YOU DONT ABUSE IT! I do agree on the 05-up being better. Also gotta keep in mind that even the eariler ones are better now than they were before if the recall work was done to it.

well as far as 05 being better no way 06 and up????? as far as the dodge dpf problems well just delete the dpf and its a great truck far more trustworthy than the 6.0. I wish ford would just fix the issue with the heads and gaskets fix it right the first time they had many years to fix it. I bought a 08 dodge because of a better tranny than the earlier models and been very happy with it
