Default Late 04 to 03 6.0 swap. Huh?

Local ford dealership pretty much destroyed my truck and charged me 1400 bucks to tear apart a running (poorly) truck, wanted around 14k for a ford reman. I told them no way. They let the cab down and rolled it outside. Ended up being a gauded piston on number 8. My truck is a late 04. I bought an 03 long block to replace mine with and they say it will end up being too much work to swap it over. Exactly what is the difference between them? As far as long blocks go did ford really retool everything? I understand some small differences in the wiring but they act like its like trying to install a 455 oldsmobile.
whats involved in putting an 03 long block where a late headed big water pump 04 used to sit?

The blocks should be the same, the icp sensor moved from under the turbo (early 03) to the passenger side valve cover 04 and newer, the high pressure oil rails changed on the injectors and the head in that area a bit, You should be able to swap all your 03 heads, turbo, injectors, oil pump, intake, etc on to that block. There may a few other slight differences in the motors I’m forgetting

Start crossing the part numbers on things between the two motors if you have a question on it, that’s how I start figuring out some things
