Default Electrical Problem - maybe

2006 F350 4x4 Crew Cab - Automatic 6.0 with just over 105,000 miles

Bought this used with 28,000 - at time of purchase bought extended warranty good to 88,000. At 82,000 heads need replacement (thankfully covered under warranty). Also had new batteries installed

Not a problem since until now. Parked truck in evening - went out next morning and truck would not crank BUT with key in ON position all the dash lights will rapidly flash and sounds like solenoid rapidly opening and closing, tach and speedometer needles "flutter", truck will not crank. Unfortunately I don't have my electrical meter with me but headlights, interior lights, etc all work and appear to be normal brightness.

Attempted to hook up both STC scanner and also Auto Engenuity program and neither can get codes or even work,

Any and all help will be appreciated

Sounds like low voltage to me. Did you check your batteries with a volt meter? Ive experienced this same thing several times when my batteries get low. Perhaps you left a light on over night?

Problem resolved. There was a problem with the OEM radio/cd player. Long story but short version - even with key off the radio continued to draw juice, or so the dealer told me. Both new batteries were shot and alternator need to be replaced. With the fused pulled for the radio, new batteries (covered under warranty) & alternator I have not had a problem.

Hopefully this was the cause.

But now you have no radio? Ford didnt really fix the friggin problem then....if the radio worked when you rolled in it should work when you roll out, id be making them replace the radio. Unless they pull the usual dealer crap and say they wont replace it....thats always a possibility.
