A good size Ford dealership has this truck for sale. I am thinking about buying. I have perused this site, noting EGR delete or not, other possible problems. The dealership has a Carfax available and has not been smashed or rebuilt. I am always leary about carfax, because not everyplace posts to that site. Bottomline, on a testdrive, what should I look for? Thanks ahead pf time, guys and girls!!

 

Look at the carfax and see if any repairs have been made. I have an O3 6.0L that was owned by a diesel mechanic and I paid 12K for the 03 with 112K miles, no mods. Make sure the radiator tank or DEGAS tank is clean with no excessive cloudy powdery looking substance that would make you believe that the truck has been overheating. When I purchased my truck, I added onto my budget the cost of an EGR delete, oil cooler, coolant filtration kit and a rebuild FICM from Ed @ FICM repair. total cost of parts was aprox 1500 extra including the VC9 coolant flush & Caterpillar EC1 coolant. As of two years and 25K miles, I love my truck. Currently going to do an oil change with the hot shot treatment just for added protection. if you purchase the repairs I have done, don't tune it over 40hp, it will be a great truck

 

Gotta agree with Ozz, I love my 6.0. Careful maintenance with proper not generic fluids and don't over modify and you will have a great truck!
