Sorry bout all the questions guys just need help.this is my first diesel and I don't really have the money to put it in a shop plus I don't trust shops.i lost a damn good blazer to a lazy worthless mechanic trying to permatex a set of head gaskets I gave him the gaskets when I dropped it off is the bad thing.

That stinks about your blazer. . . I wonder if plunger seal is damaged ? I'm the only wrench turner on my truck. I sold snap on tools for 4 1/2 yrs, saw how shoddy some guys are. I'm amazed some are still in business. . But I saw some real class guys doing good work for fair price too . .

Bulletproof diesel sells a nice monitor for $165? I like the display and data advertised, can't wait to try one! It may be good idea for you ? Supposedly gives you all the important parameters of your truck. I'm thinking money well spent if its as advertised and can remain in place to keep eye on your motor.

Yeah I've come to the conclusion I need to get a scanner to do anything else.I'm not gonna throw parts on it.i tried every thing free or few dollars cheap that I could hoping to fix it.guess I'm gonna have to work extra hours and save done cash

I noticed when I took the old filter out,i dropped it on the ground Sunday then tapped it today to see how bad it was clogged, a small ring bout an inch in diameter fell out.it has four lil feet on it what is this? also I've checked the filter twice today and both times the housing was dry and the filter only looked damp not soaked in oil first time was only 5 mins after I killed it

I put in motorcraft filter yesterday the cap is napa got a motorcraft cap coming tomorrow.is it possible to remove filter housing and clean it up? What would work best? Also would rebuilding the turbo be something I can handle?i think the vanes are sticking a lil.it has a bad lag and smokes black then it takes off ok

If you are careful and decent mechanic you can clean turbo. I would see prev posts and stickies up top of page for good advice on it. Some guys do it as a regular service once a year. I would recommend as it doesn't cost more than new gasket and some anti seize and will let you see if anything else is needed in there.

Cap did nothing.my new neighbor owns a diesel mechanic shop he's gonna scan it for free.he thinks hpop also gonna let me loose in his shop to work on my truck.so I'll have access to the proper tools.hopefully I'll find the tool drawer with the money in it to buy the parts I need.

And the turbo issue was an easy fix.the wires for the vane control were frayed and shorting out luckily nothing burnt up from it its spooling up like it should now.
