Usually the veins will stick. Also have you checked your oil? Does it smell like fuel? Is it high?

If you do it all I can say is it's not going to be fun. The back bolt is terrible. You might want to pick up a chiltons or hay be manual if you want to do it. Not sure on the kit cost. Mine was under warranty and the others I've done were for friends so they bough parts

Would a weak turbo cause all of these issues including the miss?

Prison, what all issues did you have that you spoke of earlier? My truck will get rpms up to whatever but just falls out.

My truck had a high pressure oil leak so I lacked power there and the turbo seals were shot and the veins were stuck. A couple weeks before it happened I had a surge going uphill at 50 mph on cruise two days in a row. It was fine until I was accelerating and heard a pop. It sat a month before this started. You've definitely got enough fuel though with all the smoke. A miss sounds more like a bad injector

ICP port on passengers valve cover side. Remove ICP sensor and plug it with 3/8 male flare like this one
