New engine 03 6.0L Starts won't stay running
Installed new J&K engine , starts but loads cylinder with fuel and kills itself. First time it happened #8 was full, second time #6. Code reads #8 Ckt is low. Replaced #8 injector. Has EGR delete kit. Truck sat for about 11/2 years, only 88,xxx miles , could it be a PCM problem.

You re-oring the injectors when swapping old to new engine? compression gasket on tip of injector? Torque down injectors to spec? When you changed #8 was the orings torn or burnt off, was tip cracked?

I see you answered that part. what cylinder is misfiring now, 8 still? ckt low is either injector or FICM not pcm

Injector #8 had bad plug on it, that was the reason to replace it. Still get the code for #8 ckt low. #6 doesn't bring up any codes but was filled with fuel. Removed glow plug to clear cylinder, restarted , ran for a few minutes and locked up. Haven't checked yet to see which cylinder is full this time. You say the problem might be the FICM , is there anyway to check it or test it.

Well the FICM is what actually controls and fires the injector so if its keeping the injector on that would cause the fuel loading. I have never seen a ficm keep and injector sticking on though. Clear cylinders then leave inj 6 and 8 unplugged see if it stays running then go from there. Your sure they got new copper gaskets at the injector tips? Anytime we see a ficm throw inj ckt low codes the dc-dc convertor inside is going and then it will set, with new calibrations it will also set a p0611 FICM performance since now they are watching the voltage 45v or less and its toast. Should be 48.5 to 50.5 is the range I am seeing on good ficm's. It really sounds like a fuel o-ring or coppper gasket issue to me or not being torqued down right. Lets just put it this way any time I have fuel in the cylinder locking it up it has always been a cracked injector tip or injector fuel o-rings. A cracked injector cup is possible but have never seen it personally. Is the Head and everything new reman longblock?

I had a local mechanic look at FICM , he found it had 47.5 volts , he said it was OK. But it sounds like it might low. The block and heads are from J & K Engines from Nashville, TN , they reman and assemble the engine with ARP studs (they only work on 6.0L and 6.4L ford Diesels). The other parts come from the original engine. I put all new orings and copper gaskets on the injectors when I reinstalled them. I'll clear the cylinders and try unplugging those injectors and get back to you. Thank You very much for the info.

I checked glow plugs #6 & #8. #8 was dry, #6 was wet, cleared cylinder and unplugged #6 injector. Started engine, same thing happened , ran for a few minutes and locked up. I think I'll change out #6 injector. I have a few extras, the 1st engine broke a valve, both heads had to be replaced, used heads came with injectors.
