bulb Stock '07 6.0 Dealer says "injectors" ?

Truck starts "ok" but idles real poorly at -5*C (10*F) or less in the Frozen North. Block heater certainly helps. Seem to start and run well when warm. Calgary dealer says 3 injectors need to be replaced for oodles of money, suggests all 8 be done for oodles and oodles of money. I'll probably seek a second opinion from a specialist diesel shop in Calgary but my question is this...Are the engine codes that specific? Are three injectors definitely pooched or do the codes just register "misfires"? Could it be bad glow coils or fuel filter air leaks or...?

They would show up individual cylinders on a contribution test. As long as they pass buzz test I would get a hold of some rev x and see if that takes care of your problem. Ive seen this stuff work wonders. They recomend doing an oil change then pouring the stuff in. If it is cackling like crazy when cold its probly just the normal stiction problems that 6.0 injectors have. Make sure you are changing your oil regularly and Im guessing your are using a lower weight oil in the winter? It should help your issue aswell. Try the rev ex and see what happens. It works really well.

Thanks for the suggestion, its worth a try before spending big bucks in injector service. I'll probably have to order the Rev-X on-line since there is only one distributor in this area, the size of Alaska, Texas and and a few other states combined. Welcome to product access my side of the 49th parallel.

Rev X probably will work but it is only a cover up. The problem will come back eventually. The buzz test will single out each injector and tell them what needs to be changed. You can try to order some online and put them in yourself instead of the dealer charging you to put them in.

Also heard good things about REV X but like jeffa6980 said it is only a cover up for now.

I've had similar problems with my 6.0L that I just picked up did online research and found out it can be a bad FICM or stiction (more likely). For stiction many use RevX or a newer product Archoil that is almost half price. Archoil also has a fuel additive (6200)also that some use in conjunction with the oil additive (9100).

Here is some info about the FICM and stiction:

Here some videos of oil additives used:

Archoil

RevX

(read the comments now he recommends Archoil)

I was going to try the Archoil but I dropped my off at the dealership to scan the system to make sure everything else is up to snuff (FICM, fuel pressure, etc)
