Default 05 F250 w/99,000 miles for 13,500?

It has the 6.0 and I have heard very few good things about them. Any advise?

That price with that milage probably means problems that the current owner doesn't know how to fix. If being sold by dealer get carfax and as much info as possible before deciding.

It's at a local dealership. They have had it on the lot for quite a long time the VIN is 1FTSX21PX5EA16647 and it looks like one of those deals that are to good to be true. It is a super cab with an 8 foot bed.

4wd, Auto not sure but think it is an LT or XLT.

Carfax says it is a one owner vehicle.
No accidents or Airbag depolyment and the odometer checks out.
Detailed history shows nothing done to it at all except routine maintenance.

I have not had a chance to even look at it. NADA says it is only worth about 16,500 which sounds low for a Diesel with 99,990 miles. Is the 6.0 killing the value? Here is the link "http://www.quirkauto.com/wholesale-used/Ford/2005-Ford-F-250-005db5830a0a000201aa75c1f4bc0e37.htm". It is on the wholesale lot because they are getting ready to send it to Auction but I was told it will take a Maine sticker and will get a warranty. The listing says Manual but I was told it is an auto. They are going to bring it up to me on Saturday.

They also have this 08 "http://www.quirkauto.com/wholesale-used/Ford/2008-Ford-F-250-58678a0f0a0a00020082c94fe6b113b7.htm" with 106,400 miles for 16,850

Looks to be a XLT judgeing by the chrome grill and the fact it is 4x4 on the rear fender and not Fx4, one thing to look at is that grey stripe on side, it doesn't belong there, it is either paint missing or painted over with grey, see how uneven it looks. Probably has alot to do with price. I would take it for a test ride and if it seems ok then I would jump on it, but keem in mind that I would plan spending $600 to do some updating to it and some madatory precautions.
Oil cooler rebuild=$265
new standpipes and dummy plugs=$102
new STc fitting=$38
coolant filter=$140 one of the most important things to add.
optional would be a EGR delete, although highly reccomended.

Dumping the money you're suggesting is no problem for me. I normally end up doing all the recommended mods and more when I buy a vehicle and actually have been known to go overboard. I just want to make sure my initial investment is a sound one. This will be my 1st diesel so I need to do all my homework and get all the advise I can before I pull the trigger and potentially make a mistake so please everyone pile on with suggestions I need all the help I can get.

Oh and I am somewhat of a speed freak. My DD is a 07 350z roadster which I have chipped and do drive like I stole it. I'm a 50+ year old kid.

So sounds like 13,500 for the 05 w/99,995 miles is better than 16,850 for the 08 w/106,400 miles? The 08 looks like it has had a rougher life with the damage to the tailgate and bumper plus the fact it was a plow truck.

Ok so just got off the phone with the dealer and they stated that the truck has a leak in the exhaust manifold, needs rear shocks and the e break won't hold so it will go out the door with no sticker or warranty. I told them that everything I have read about the 6.0 scares me and I know I will need to spend a few k just to get it dependable. I also told them I am taking a big risk and have found that at aution they would be lucky to get between 8 and 9k. He actually agreed with me so I offered him 10k out the door with my Avalanche as a trade assuming they can get it up here for me to look at and it passes my inspection. He didn't seem offended at all and said he will propose my offer to the manager when he returns tomorrow.

Buy it! I love my truck and wouldn't trade it for anything.
