Default Engine Oil leak

Hi this is my first time on the boards, i have a 2007 powerstroke and i went under to chainge my oil today and when i went to take the drain plus out i noticed some oil on my oil pan and up towards my engine it seems that the oil is coming from where the exhaust meets the engine, seems to be both sides only near the rear of the engine... does anyone have an idea what this might be? im worried. I onlu have 93,000KM on my truck bought it at 75...thanks in advance.

It could be your sct fitting on the engine. It is like an air hose coupler and there is an oring in there that goes out. may need to replace that and to do that the top of the engine need to be tore down.

Not the STC fitting, that is internal, most likely spot is the seals around the glow plugs or the valve covers. you can try to snug the valve covers up to see if it cures it. you can also look in through the wheel wells to see if you can identify it better.

Please explain how in the hell a STC fitting can externally leak outside of the engine?

There are quite a few things up there that can leak. On higher milege engines I see the oil cooler housing gasket **** oil, but only when cold and at high pressure. It ofcourse travels through the valley and down the rear. Have you ever had anything serviced such as the turbo or HPOP? Its possible that a o-ring on the oil drain tube could have been compromised or that the RTV did not get put on the right spots on the HPOP cover...

also, take a look at your hotside boost boot coming off the charger. If its oil soaked than that could be the source also. Best bet is to post some pictures or powerwash/degrease engine and let her run and watch for leaks.

IMO if its not leaving spots and just seems to be tiny seepage there is no worry...

Hey thanks for the replies, ya i took it to the car wash sprayed where the leaking points were and layed underneath it while it ran and it looked like it was where i thought it was coming from i havnt ever seen a spot that its left behind, i looked in by the wheel well and i cant see anything else leaking its not a bad leak just enough to where my oil pan was wet and the front of my transmission and no i havnt had the turbo serviced or the HPOP that i know of ive only owned it for 18K km (1 year) so i will take a picture when i have time thanks for your time

i havnt driven much since i changed my oil so it hasnt leaked a lot yet the oil pan was much wetter when i initially changed the oil. I had my oil changed at my local kal tire and they over filled my oil by half a liter maybe so i got them to drain it and re fill not sure if that may have caused this. And if it is any ideas about getting them to pay for the fix haha...
