my buddy told me to make him a offer on his sct x3 its as three custom tunes on it. they're from innovative diesel there is a tow tune, mpg tune, street tune(thats conservative for stock ). he paid 430 for it. but he doesnt know if the tune will work on my truck cause of the serial numbers. how much should i offer him if it would work?

Don't plan on the tunes working at all, always plan to buy your own new tunes for your truck based on your mods and your strategy, rarely will you find one with the same strategy. He needs to tune his back to stock, and you need to make sure there are unlocks left.

I think Innovative charges around $165 for three new tunes... factor that cost in... $200 for it maybe??? As long as it has a few unlocks left.

Having the same mods really means nothing when it comes to an SCT, if the strategies are different, the contained tunes are USELESS. I bought my used X3 on eBay for $115 with a couple of tunes on it, but they didn't match my truck so they wouldn't load.

Plug it into the truck, select device information, or whatever it is, cycle through, it will state how many unlocks are left. These things can only be used on 4 or 5 different vehicles per module.
