Default EGR Delete Kit Question

Looking at getting an EGR delete kit and tuner. As of now, i want the SCT SF3 tuner. The delete kit is where the question is. Ive seen one for $159 on egrdeletekit.com, and the other is from Sinister in a package with the tuner for $649. Its gonna cost more to go with the package deal and get the Sinister EGR delete, but has anyone had any experience with egrdeletekit.com? I dont want to get it from them and save a few bucks now if ill run into problems later. Thanks

BTW stock 05 250 6.0

Custom Diesel has a great EGR delete kit for a good price.

Thanks guys, Ill be moving back to Arizona within the year, and after reading about emissions testing there, I dont think I am gonna do the delete. I was reading up on blocking it off but that doesnt sound reliable. I guess I will just have to keep mine clean Unless there is a delete out there that maintains the stock look. Ill read up on it. Kinda new to the diesel world.

Blocking it off can be very reliable if done correctly. Have a machine shop weld in some stainless plates on the ends of the factory EGR cooler. I'd go that route myself. Cheap, reliable, and looks bone stock

The other option is a bulletproof diesel EGR cooler, more money though.

Doesn't welding the EGR cooler stop coolant from flowing through your oil cooler?

Just weld up the EGR up-pipe...."sneaky pipe" mod.

You don't weld the coolant flow ports, you weld shut the exhaust ports. Coolant will still flow but will not be heated by the exhaust.

No, the coolant flows through, it just stops the exhaust from flowing through.

This is another method, I just prefer to weld the cooler shut. That way in the event the cooler still ruptures, the cooler just fills up with a small amount of coolant and nothing else happens. With just the up-pipe welded, the cooler can still rupture and cause serious issues. Though the exhaust side is one part of it, clogged oil coolers can certainly lead to blown EGR coolers as well.

Just my 2 cents.

Yea...welding the cooler is better albeit more work to remove. In the end it solves the issue!!
