Question 6.0 wont start in cold

I have a 2004 f-350 with 90k. It use to fire up in the cold mornings fine but now it chugs. We installed an EGR delete, with no change except for it chugging black some instead of white. Also put in brand new glow plugs and Glow plug harness and Glow plug control module. Also, just recently, firing it up kills the battery after 2 or 3 tries.

When its cold (only about 40 degrees) it does't want to fire the cylinders and when it does it chugs something fierce until it dies after about 7 or 8 chugs. If it fires up it has no power for the first 7 mins or so.

If plugged in all night it will fire and only chug once or twice. Runs like a top when warm.
Any ideas?

Thats the same issue I am having right now, the truck just puked a couple (9) codes, all of them dealing with injector circuit low (all 8 cylinders) and a P0611, that one deals with the FICM. I am taking mine in to have checked and I'll let ya know if the stuff I get done fixes the problem.

A new FICM is not a cure, it just pro-longs the time until FICM failure again. They haven't changed the design at all, so it will keep failing.

Get your batteries load tested individually first JoeJP. It's amazing how poor these trucks run on weak batteries. If one is bad, replace both. Test them and let us know what you find. If they check out, I would test the FICM anyways, test procedure is found at the top of the 6.0 page.
