Question stumped

my 06 has 72,000 on it and has been trouble free since the day it was new. the other day it ran great all morning, shut it down, two hours later wouldn't start. pulled the codes, found high pressure codes, checked low pressure oil it was good,so knowing that the pump to branch tube fitting had not come apart, I pulled the IPR valve and found the tip blowen out. replaced it, re assembled everything, and still,no start? hooked the scanner back, no codes. but while cranking noticed no oil pressure on the gauge, confirmed on the computer.. but while scanning through noticed I still have 800 - 900 psi in the high pressure. pulled the oil filter, and it was empty. so unplugged the cam sensor to avoid damage, and cranked with the filter out. no oil. hooked to the manual EOP port and nothing. even to double check put the manual gauge at the sensor port. I have no oil up there, to ensure myself that I still had HP oil I gauged into the ICP sensor and still 800 - 900p psi. in turn pulled the intake and egr cooler... and got down to the oil cooler. I see no damage to the oil cooler or housing, the anti drain back and stand tube are ok. I'm at a loss if where to look being I have good high pressure oil and nothing at the cooler. I'm at a loss. has anyone seen this before?

When you tried to pump oil up to the filter housing did you hold down the drainback valve? if not it will never fill with oil. If all that is confirmed then it sounds like either you engine oil pump or the regulator for the engine pump failed. The pump is located right behind the harmonic ballancer

maybe this is where I'm confused, you wouldn't think I would have high pressure oil if either of those were bad. my understanding is that from the LP oil pump it flows through the regulator, up to the oil cooler, filter housing, and turbo, then from there to the HP pump. or can it bypass all that and still feed the HP pump??

there is actually a port in the cooler housing that feeds the HPOP Resivior that is under the oil cooler and there is a passage that feeds leads to the HPOP. When you are seeing 800 or 900 is that acual or desired?? you should be able to monitor both, that is what you have to do, it needs at least 500psi actuall to fire the truck.

Bob read my mind... are you reading ICP actual or ICP desired? What's IPR % duty at? Did you replace the IPR or just replace the screen? Usually when the screen is busted out on the IPR it's almost always the HPOP.

I'm reading actual. I put a gauge at the ICP sensor to confirm.
