Default 6.0 ???

Ok a friend of mine asked me if I could help him get a list of things that he needs to make the truck reliable. He uses it to pull his race car on the weekends and pretty much thats it.
I appreciate the help

Tom

first off an egr delete. he can buy a kit or i recomend having the inlet and exhaust port of the egr cooler welded shut

second a stc fitting upgrade. the stock setup is just straight up junk

third oil cooler upgrade

if he plans on pulling alot of heavy stuff and putting a programmer on it head studs for sure

6.0's are good strong running motors they just have a few flows to them

What year is the truck? The STC fitting upgrade is 05+ only. We need to know more about the truck before we can give a complete list... what is it used for, is it modded? Will it be modded? What's the power goal? What's done to it now?

It's an 06 he has a SCP on it know on the lowest setting for fuel milage. Other than that its completely stock. All he uses it for is pulling his race car to the track. He had no real power goal just dependability. If I'm not mistaken that was in the first post.

Add REV-X to the engine oil! My service truck ('06 F550) showed massive improvements after adding it. Better starting, cold and hot, less chatter on start up, and maybe, just maybe a touch more power. All this is fine and dandy if you have symptoms and you want to cure them. I'm confident in saying that adding Rev-X will aid in prevention of these symptoms if used regularly.

I'd start with the updated STC fitting (found on the HPOP), updated dummy plugs and stand pipes, a coolant filter, and monitor the oil cooler and see what it's health is (checking engine oil temp against engine coolant temp). A good 4 or 5" turbo back exhaust to keep EGT's down, and an EGR delete. With the EGR delete he will need custom tuning to shut the check engine light off (Sounds like he already has an SCT, just need to order some tunes up).
