Yes it can be done, nothing too complex, not really any special tools I can think of. I would definitely make sure it's an HPOP before plopping down the $500+ for one.

I agree!!!!...

Speaking of that, I went to the hospital to check on some family, truck started fine hadn't drove it all day... I leave the hospital 4 hours later... It just cranked... Got it towed home, shot 1 tony spray of starter fluid... and it turned over instantly... Could that mean its not just the hpop?

ANOTHER UPDATE...

I started it with fluid this morning, now I have it seems like something is dragging, like making it sluggish...

With the turbo off I'm faster 65-80... I had to try(vgt shut off)

I'm curious as to what's going on...

Well they'll certainly turn over slower when they're loaded up with ether. I wouldn't use that at all if I was you.

Still sounds like a high pressure oil leak to me. Needs to be hooked to a scanner or hook shop air to it and find the leak.

I finally have some days off. I called all the ford dealerships around me, and they all want 280+ for a visual and computer diagnostic. So I'm leaning towards buying some form of a scanner. Any ideas? I was thinking SG2...

And where would my ICP be located, I have an 04 with an 03 model.

SG2 is a nice unit for the money, but it's basically just gauges... if you want a real scanner, you'll want AutoEnginuity with the enhanced Ford bundle. It runs about $365. You'll need a labtop too. That's what I use, it's the best bang for the buck, no questions asked. KT performance on here has it and I believe it was even on sale recently. You can do cylinder contribution tests, injector buzz tests, real time monitoring of your ICP readings... awesome software.

Alright I'll look into that right now.. I figure another 80$ to keep the diagnostics tool would be worth it ahahah

Well worth it, and to save the $100+ charge every time Ford wants to hook up to it, except they typically have no clue what they're looking for and we do. Best investment I've made on this truck no questions asked.

Does that mean you want to share the software hahaha.

Ironically I just booted up my laptop... I have the AE scan tool already ahaha. Can I buy the ford bundle alone? Or do I have to rebuy?

You can buy the Ford bundle as an add on for sure. You'll need that to do the correct stuff we are looking for. It comes with a USB flash drive (security dongle) that needs to be plugged in all the time for the enhanced stuff to work correctly.

I'm sure you can share the software easy enough, the cable is the hard part... haha. Not even worth messing with for the cost of the bundle.
