Auto Enginuity questions/concerns
This is a long post but it is so out of necessity.
I purchased Auto Enginuity w/ Enhanced Ford Bundle to diagnose my 06 F350 6.0 PSD (173,000+ miles).
Following the enclosed instructions I loaded the software and hooked up to the truck. As requested I had it search for the VIN.
Once it retrieved the VIN I received the message
Due to the vehicle weight this vehicle is exempt from OBD II requirements. To pull DTCs use Test Onboard Systems test.
Clicking on the Test Onboard Systems tab it brings up a screen with these warnings
1. You should only initiate tests, or request system or component data if you have manufacture special information related to doing so.
2. Follow manufacture specific instructions and the instructions below very carefully.
Below the warnings is a “drop down box” for Automated System Testing. The only choice is Evaporative System Leak.
When I click on this I get the following message
This test mode enables conditions required to conduct an evaporative system leak test, but does not actually run test. The manufacture is responsible to determine the criteria to start and stop test.
If I click on Onboard Test Results I get the following message
Due to vehicle weight IM and Mode 6 results not available.
I also get a list of “tests” and out of that list the ones below are classified as unavailable
Fuel System Monitoring
Catalyst Monitoring
Evaporative Monitoring
Secondary Air
A/C System
Oxygen Sensor Monitoring
Oxygen Sensor Heater Monitoring
This afternoon when I went to start the truck I had the software connected. The truck didn’t fire right away and when it did it ran rough yet no error codes were displayed.
Am I missing something or doesn’t this software work on a F350?
If I entered the VIN from a F250 would I get better results because the VIN would indicate a “lighter weight” vehicle?
Is there a web site where I can obtain "manufacture specific instructions" and the criteria to conduct the tests?
Thanks - Any suggestions/help is appreciated.

Hey man, sorry I can't help you on this one, but this is way over my head. Honestly your best bet for this would to be to get on the AE forums and ask around. I'm not sure if anyone here is that well versed in it to be pointing you in a good direction. If there is, hopefully they'll chime in, but I'm not sure who would be...

Well they responded very quickly - They want a phone call when I have 20 mins to be in the truck so as of right now I am charging my cell phone and laptop and will be calling them shortly!

Auto Enginuity replied within the hour of me sending a copy of the original post. They requested that I call to rectify the problem when I had about 20 minutes to spend with the vehicle and truck.
Charged my cell phone and laptop and made the call. The tech (Evan) spent almost a half hour on the phone and walked me through a bunch of stuff. I am glad to say that the problem is rectified and the program runs great!
One of the first tests I ran was the FICM. The FICM tested fine for the 3 normal tests. What was very interesting was that I let the truck run for awhile and monitored the FICM voltage and discovered that it would drop. I watched it fluctuate between 44.5 volts and 48volts. If I hadn't monitored the FICM I would have guessed that there was no problem with it because of the first 3 initial tests were all within the accepted range.

I wouldn't really worry about it dipping down to 45 or so. Not really a problem just yet, but keep an eye on it.
Glad they're easy to deal with. I was having a problem getting my enhanced license to register. It kept saying it had to shut down to complete the registration, then would start back up and be right back at square 1. I need to get my truck back before I can mess with it more though.

They were really great to deal with. My program for some reason had "uninstalled" the Ford enhancement bundle. We did some checks and updated some files and the thing works great now.
When you talk with them Mike they will most likely want you in the truck with the computer.
