Agreed, again, that's the point, there's no wonder turbo like there is no wonder wheel. There's a lot of design that goes into building a turbo to work for a specific application.

I think you're agreeing with me, just using a lot more words to get there haha

From a marketing stand point, you have to ask, "what's the best bang for the buck?"

OK it’s not that easy with making conclusions as brands like HOLSET Garrett and BorgWarner can not give out a lot of data as most of it is linked to OEM so we have to excuse them for holding back.
BorgWarner and Holset (I can't speak on behalf of Garrett) have been very generous when providing technical data to their distributors. They've come to recognize that one of their big advantages is information. All one needs to do is contact his friendly neihborhood distributor.

They really do try to take the guess work out of it.

@ Mdub707. Well let me put it this way it will be hard to beat numbers on flow and efficiency on the latest generation of turbochargers. Chance is you end up facing al kinds of problems fitting an aftermarket wheel ending up with bearing problems due to bad balancing for example.

@ jman65 As for information. Yes we also get a load more info on things now but we are not getting copies of OEM related flow maps or even extended flow maps but we are now able to plot out our existing turbochargers with the information given to us and we can work from there.
In the past we did not have this information and companies where exploiting this by giving no information or wrong information making good money as we kept on blowing up turbochargers. Even today we do not get turbo’s with the parts numbers in them so we can only hope we have the parts and information fitting together.
