hey guys im a newbie need some help dont know whats up with my truck
i need some advice . i picked up the truck a couple months ago the week after i got it was back to the shop to get the egr cooler and oil cooler changed. it was blowing coolant out of the degas bottle. the truck had 47k on it . after having that work done its still blowing coolant out and the shop said it needed a new cap so it has a new one the same thing. it has 51k on it after a few months now it seems to do it after i drive for along period of time or after running up a grade. the guys at the ford dealer said it all checked out wasn't a motor issue. the truck doesn't seem to have the power it should either my buddy drove them all the time when he work at the dealership and he said it felt a little underpowered . any ideas what would be causing it to still be blowing coolant out of the cap after the work that's been done

With all that work being done, only other thing is headgaskets.

Any mods on the truck?

As for power, hard to say. Is it blowing any smoke out at all when you mash the pedal? Has the EGR valve been cleaned at all?

it has a 4" turbo back exhaust that all i have done so far its spent more time at the shop then home . the dealer said that the checks they have done doesn't show bad head gaskets. it puffs smoke every time i take off from a stop . i haven't put any aftermarket gauges yet the stock boost gauge shows its going to 25 when i am in it. when it was at the shop they said they had checked the turbo and it all looked good.

How do they know it isn't bad head gaskets? If the egr cooler is good, it's basically the only thing it can be...

From my past experiences with Ford dealers (warranty stuff) they can't diagnose their way out of a wet paper bag. I gave up going to the dealer for any work, all it did was frustrate me, waste my time, and somehow never managed to fix the truck correctly.

Where are you located?

Had the same thing happen to me and it turned out to be that the heads were cracked even though it was running fine. The only thing is, is it smelled like diesel fuel at the degas bottle. but if it doesn't smell like diesel fuel then it is the head gaskets. but i would suggest to get the egr delete kit and also put some ARP headstuds in it.

its back at the shop. there gonna tear into it and go from there. so far i haven't smelled fuel under the hood. it doesn't run right. i talked to the tech this time around and he said it seems to have a turbo issue also. just doesn't make any sense its a low mileage truck. i just don't know what abuse it had before i picked it up. the one time i did pull with it was pathetic . i had a bass boat on a small grade the truck dropped all the way down to 35 mph. i got passed by a Toyota with 4 jet ski's behind it. not good at all

Yeah, they're usually quiet underpowered with blown headgaskets. Though I'm surprised you had trouble pulling a boat.

Low mileage doesn't always equate to good care. Turbo's stick a lot when they don't get used all the time (ie, sitting parked).

Ive been concerned about the turbo since ive had it i can hear the turbo winding down when the engine is off. it growls a little bit. when the shop had it last time they said the turbo checked out fine. i figured by 07 they had these figured out and most of the bugs worked out. what r some checks i should do regularly after its out of the shop. i plan to do an egr delete.

well i should say besides the normal maintenance stuff. im not new to diesels just new to the fords.
