Code Scanner??

Code Scanner??
I've done own maintenance for 40 years, and pretty much quit when things got computerized, and packed like a blivit, but it just cost me $700 for radiator hoses, a serp belt and idlers on my 6.0. I'm having other issues with the motor (My first post "No acceleration at low speeds") and I can't afford to pay to have it done. So, can someone suggest a model of code scanner that will do the job on these trucks (2006, F250, FWD, 6.0, stock). I'm new to diesels, so be gentle, and I'm hoping to save a few bucks.
BTW, thanks to ntmdtr3fan for the reply on my acceleration issue. I am going to attempt to clean the turbo, which sounds doable for an old fart.

If you want the best thing fordiagnosing your problems and save money in the long run then it might pay to invest in/ Autoenginuity // it is a program and adaptor that lets you hook your truck up to a laptop computer, you can get it from Dieselsite.com for $352, it is a little pricey but it can do everything the dealer can do, you can buzz test your injectors, cylinder contribution tests, read all codes, basically read any sensor on the truck and also run the same test on it that the dealer can do. You can use this on mutiple vehicles, its not locked to one truck so you can use it for the family or a buddies truck. What you want is the Autoenginuity with expanded Ford bundle, you can also get other makes too. Most code readers will not read all the codes for thes trucks, do a little research and you will find this is the best thing to get, as you know saving one trip to the dealer will more then pay for this. You might see in other posts where people refer to AE when diagnosing something, this is the tool they are talking about. I do all my own work on my 04 and also 2 other 6.0s, once you pull the turbo the first time it gets easier and you realise that under the turbo this is just a V8 and really not that hard to work on, I am ordering my AE this week, to a point I could really use it myself.

Just to beat the AE drum a little more, I saw it featured on "Truck U" and I was VERY. Impressed with what it can do. It was the deciding factor in buying a laptop instead of. Another desktop PC. I'm sure that if you look it up online that one could find/watch that episode.
Bottomline, it made that $125 Actitron scanner from Auto Zone look like a child's toy.
