Default 04 F350 SD rough idle at times, loss of power with white smoke out exhaust

its a 6.0 turbo diesel and it has a rough idle at times, loss of power with white smoke at times. it does not do it all the time as it only does it maybe once a day or not even at all... it comes and goes. i have changed fuel filters, pulled and cleaned the water/fuel separator.. no water in my oil, new air filter, pulled and cleaned the EGR vavle.. im just doing all of the small stuff to try and fix it, but it seems as though nothing is working... i sure could use some advice.. thanks

Get your batteries load tested and test your FICM. The test procedure is at the top of the page in the 6.0 section. Very common issue with 6.0's.

There is no schedule for ficm failures. Maybe uncommon to have a problem so soon after replacing. Better to scratch it off the list to be on the safe side.

It only takes a few minutes to check, and if you went with a new Ford unit, it will fail again eventually. Only real way to stop it is have it repaired, which is a fraction of the cost of a new one anyways.
