Turboing a 7.3 idi

Its not the boost you need to be careful of its cylinder and exhaust temps .. put a Pyro on your truck and drive it for a bit ..
another big help is a bigger exhaust and larger free flowing air cleaner .. mine was 14"X 6" K&N ..
if you go tossing a turbo on it your gonna run into a few issues ..
#1 ... there just isn't enough flow potential to make huge power in these engines
#2 .. your gonna spend more that your comfy with to get it all done
#3... If you slam a 12V in it .. Your WAAAYYYY ahead of the curve .. and you could run the 5 spd or the 4 spd for a bit before you need to swap it out .
take it from a guy who spent 4 years making my truck faster only to kill the engine all together ... 21:1 compression ratio wont support much boost pressure added ..
the N/A engines have smaller wrist pins and rods than the turbo engines ...

Issues
I recently got a banks kit, dropped truck off and they told me my valves are going, now the problem is i can do the work and fix the valves but what else is gonna come to play when the head is off. From my understanding these n/a engines aren't meant for a turbo. There are things you can do to support the system but I'm petty sure saving that money and getting a different maybe f/I truck. But when you love these classics it's worth doing it.
