Default antifreeze pouring on the ground

So went out to fire up the truck today and it backfire then I heard nth sound of water hitting the ground and when I looked under the truck and antifreeze pouring from the back of the engine on the passenger side above the starter. Any ideas? Did I cracked the block? Pop a freeze plug? Oh it's just antifreeze no oil. I'm not able to see where it's coming from as the starter and the exhaust are in the way. Any ideas what happened?

Well I pulled the starter and couldn't see anything so I turned it over to see where it was leaking from and it's pouring from between the block and head and it's coming out the exhaust pipe as well so time for a new motor. Any one know where I can find one at a reasonable price? Otherwise I'm going to just part it out or just scrap it.

Check on car-part.com you can search all over North America for a used engine not sure on the engine you are looking for just did a quick check in CO and they are running between 1000 & 1250 for 94 to 96 on 7.3 turbo. plus freight if you want it ship to you Rebuilt ready to drop in $5065 inc freight and Core charge of $1000 at Pilot Engines Homepage | Reviva and ERI Remanufactured Engine Cores You may just want to get a good light and inspection mirror or Camera and look it over you may just have a blown head gasket or pop a freeze plug the rear freeze plugs are a pain to change. They can be changed with out pulling the engine but you will be speaking in tongue while doing it! The reason I am leaning toward a freeze plug is you say the coolant is pouring out Head gaskets are more of a spray as the pressure builds up cracks are mostly cause by a hot engine being hit with cold water when super hot. If you thew a rod it would go through the side not the rear of the engine!

Thanks I'll check it out. I really hope it's a freeze plug as I just ain't got the money to buy a running 6.9 right now and I really don't want to get rid of my truck. Thanks again for the help.

Not many of us do have the money to replace a truck or a car. Myself I got a 93 F350 with a 7.3 in it that is some what running but it blows too much smoke The way things are going it maybe summer before I have the $ to get someone to figure out what is going on. Have been told can not be timing because there is no adjustment for that! (BS has to be for optimum performance) to bad injector So I am looking at $150 for diagnostic I can turn a wrench myself and have knowledge of how an engine works but so far as a daily driver I got a 97 exploder on 3rd transfer case now paid some guy to rebuild the old one only to find out (Afterwards) that the problem lays with the case it self. But got my rust bucket 91 F250 with 351W gas in it (Gasaholic) But always glad to throw my 2 cents in! But if you do find you need to replace the Truck and are going used Check on Craigslist some times you can find some good deal and junk too! Like the Chevy I went and look at dead battery had a "rebuilt" 350 in it pulled the dip stick oil was black as midnight and had a gritty feeling to it Walk away from that one! Wish you the best of luck on getting your running again been down that road a few times.

The block heater is located on the passenger side of the motor, middle just above the starter. On my 86, the internal bracket that held it in corroded and let it fall out on my way to work spilling coolant everywhere. It only took me a minute to figure out why all the school kids were pointing at me when steam started billowing around me.

Here you can see the heater hanging on the front of the starter.
