05' Nissan Titan 5.9 Cummins
#81
Taken together, white smoke and low pressure are absolute signs of fuel starvation. Remove the Nissan in-tank pump entirely, in favor of a "shower-head" style pickup fitting. Let the engine's lift pump do all the fuel movement. Diesel doesn't have the vaporlock characteristic of gasoline, so engine-powered suction is OK

Keep us posted. Since you have a fuel pressure guage you might just plug the existing pump back in and see if things improve. Right now your cummins pump is trying to drag fuel thru a pump that's not pumping (read: "big-assed restriction"). So long as the pressure stays below the VE's leak threshold, and above the starvepoint, you're going to be OK

Very nice there is a ton of room height wise (I know OBS Fords are tight that way). There was much talk about the clutch not holding the power but how about the frame desighned for 400 lbs of TQ now having over 800.Especialy with the angles having that much lift.Thats not a concern of yours?

I'm a cheap as* though I dont want to spend $250 for gages I'll use once! I pin timed it but I think it already slipped, and I need to go from 13.5* to 16*. NO ONE here in Pensacola, Fl does the timing on the Cummins except pin timing. So I guess I will have to suck it up and spend the money unless someone on here lives nearby and has the tools.
ok guys,
I drove the truck yesterday and it ran fine except when you punch it you sitting still it puffs a little white smoke and pops a little. First thing that comes to mind is slipped timing, but the fuel pressure is 15 PSI at idol and if you bring it up slow it goes to 23-25. If you stab it it goes from 15 down to 10 then slowly back up. I have not wired the pump in the fuel tank yet could this be the problem, starving it for fuel? Thanks fof the help in advance!
