Ive wanted to do this swap for so long! I think the titans are a damn cool looking truck and with the 12ver in there its perfect!!! Good work man!

Well,
Just an update but the wheels are still on backorder, tires are coming soon. May go with another wheel but i'm going to wait it out a little while longer. All that is left to do is... 1) Wire the motor 2) Install the Radius arms and coilovers when they come back from the powdercoater 3) Plumb the fuel lines 4) Install the grill 5) Plumb the Brake lines 6) Prime the clutch pedal 7) Install the sway bar It will be the middle of next month before the wheels and tires come in. Till then, wait, wait, wait! |
i STILL LIKE IT :)
let me know when you get dyno #s !!! |

Ok,
Got home on wed. and got right to work on the Titan. II have the suspension done, and new brakes installed. I went with Radflo's to give them a try. The ride height is about 13" lower than before. Still waiting ont he custom wheels and Nitto Mud Grappler to show up. Really all that is needed to finsh the truck now is wirin, fule and a little tuning. Your starting to freak me out a bit! They are telling me it's good for at least 1000Ft Torque. I don't think I am going to be near that. It has a warranty! |
Its not just engine power you got to take into account....spinning 38" tires can take a toll on a clutch!!!!!

---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Ok, so I am going to try to get all the wiring done in the next couple days. I know there are only a few wires to get the cummins runing, but does someone have the wiring harness diagram. I would like to get as much info as I can on the wiring to move forward. Thanks in advance! |
Im sure your pushing pretty close to that 1000 ft lb limit

Ok, it's alive! Here are the videos of the second and third start. Still no tires and wheels on the truck, sucks cause' the tires are sitting here waiting. So I need to clean up the wiring and put in the throttle cable, wheels and tires and some steering. Done!
Enjoy the vid! http://s406.photobucket.com/albums/pp150/cnallick/?action=view¤t=MVI_3018.mp4 |
sounds good man Looking forward to seeing some rolling vids of it man.

Ok, Dodge guys. Here is the problem, everything on the Nissan runs through the ECU EVERYTHING. So I cannot wire the gauges to work with the Cummins. Question is can I use the dodge cluster and wire right from the sensors to the cluster, or do I need the dodge ecu as well. I still have the dodge ecu, but would rather bypass if I can. If you know another way to make it work I am all ears.
|
you can use the nissan oil pressure and water temp gauge just use adapters to make them screw into the block thats what most people do. i cant help you on the tach since ive never used a nissan but voltage should be simple to figure out use the plug on the cummins alt and wire it to the nissan ecu. voltage is voltage so it should swap over faily easily. speedometer will probably be up to a speedometer shop or a very skilled electrical guy. that should cover most of your gauges
|
:tu:Nice. sounds good. I think the idle is a little low tho. Once you get the guages working you can set it right. Do like tltruckparts said or just use the dodge computer and cluster, thats what I would do. Then you know the guages will be accurate.

Well here is the last update for three weeks, Wheels are at OMF getting simulocks finished, 40" Nitto Mud Grapplers are sitting in the shop waiting on the rims! Everything else is done except the Driveshaft, Intake which is going to be custom from Injen, and the A/C getting charged. When I get home it should be on the road within a week. I wish I could take some vacation time! I go outside and fire it up every day just to hear it run, I will do some videos of the first drive. Here is a decent pic. of the engine compartment with the wiring finally done.

well since i am here in new york and cant convert my titan I grabed an '86 Chevy K10 short bed. Going to go with a 12 valve 6bt like you have with a stick. playing the axle and spring game now. not real sure how to configure the front end. looking to do one ton springs in the rear minus a leaf or two and adding air bags and traction bars of some sort. I am also a bit concerned with the strength of the frame rails. might have to try my hand at boxing them in. anyway its alot of shopping and reading at this point. all i know is that all that power on such a short wheel base should be a handful. cant wait to see your truck rolling!
|
Dude, this project is awesome!

well it will be lifted. going with a basic spring over with 35 inch tire. going to do air bags helpers in the rear. Just trying to find a smoking deal on a doner truck in my area now. So how about some videos of your Titan with a sled behind it!! I cant wait any longer

Sounds like an awesome build. I really like everything about the truck. Looking forward to seeing it all finished and rolling down the street!

Wow! What a cool project! I've always liked the way the Titans looked. You turned that thing into a beast.
As far as the timing with those injectors, I generally set them up at 16.5° and they tend to run a little cooler. 370's are pretty hot since the spray pattern doesn't match the bowl of the piston on the pickup engines. Have you checked with the local parts stores, Napa, O'Rilleys, Auto Zone? Our Napa here has the Dial Indicator tool that they rent out. Might be worth a shot! |
That is gonna be one sick ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
chalk it up to my geezerhood, but, it looks like your tires are wearing a Nissan bobblehead. (running and hiding now)
|
I'm gonna suggest 16,5° timing... unless you've done something to hold your top down and lower your CR...

Well,
I drove it around today but forgot to shoot a vid! I will have one monday for you guys. For now here are some pics. of the truck lowered on 40's. It's got a hell of a lot more power! Attachment 45217 Attachment 45218 |
ok guys,
I drove the truck yesterday and it ran fine except when you punch it you sitting still it puffs a little white smoke and pops a little. First thing that comes to mind is slipped timing, but the fuel pressure is 15 PSI at idol and if you bring it up slow it goes to 23-25. If you stab it it goes from 15 down to 10 then slowly back up. I have not wired the pump in the fuel tank yet could this be the problem, starving it for fuel? Thanks fof the help in advance! |
Taken together, white smoke and low pressure are absolute signs of fuel starvation. Remove the Nissan in-tank pump entirely, in favor of a "shower-head" style pickup fitting. Let the engine's lift pump do all the fuel movement. Diesel doesn't have the vaporlock characteristic of gasoline, so engine-powered suction is OK
