SAE #2 on this one guys....

14" clutch (probably only run a single disc now.. waste otherwise)

SAE #1 is huge in comparison and is only used on larger OTR trucks (read transmissions over 1000 lbs)

Then theres the FS6400, 5600, 8600 series too running on the SAE #2......

Its all the clutch housing....which is the same bolt patternfor A TON of fuller transmissions IE I can put a #2 or #1 housing on mine if i really wanted too... just a matter of clutch sizing, # of discs, and size of input shaft.........

Then you have the entire spicer 5xxx series running on #2 as well

Dude this is really good info, thanks for posting.

So I went junkyarding today and bought a SAE 2 Cummins flywheel housing/adapter plate off of a ford f600 and it bolted right on the rear of a 02 isb motor I have, a 96 12 valve, and the older 12 valves. I had no idea so many trannys used the SAE 2, this is fantastic i'm so stoked.

I am curious though about the SAE 1 flywheel housing plate you could get... Any info?

Looks like on the clutches Valair makes them among MANY others and they are wicked cheap compared to the clutches for nv5600 and nv4500's.

Great thread. Will be interested in what you choose to use to actuate the clutch disengage. Linkage? Or you thinking a slave off a class 8 truck rigged to a master cylinder maybe?

Now be careful when selecting... I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended only the

RT6609A (9 speed direct only)
RT610 (10 speed direct OLD VERSION)
RT6610 (10 speed direct (can be converted to OD) ' new version 1986 and beyond, common cheaper parts)
RTO610 (10 speed OD OLD VERSION)
RTO6610 (10 speed OD ' new version 1986 and beyond, common cheaper parts)

Everything else will be 'larger' transmissions

No need for an SAE #1....... the motor itself physically cannot out-torque a small SAE #2 transmission (most SAE#2's can handle up to 1000 ft-lbs of torque so... unless your giong uber BOMB)

In regards to acutation.... we'll tackle that when I have the drivetrain in the chassis and I get the body on to see what I got.... I would prefer mechanical linkage over hydraulic (pedal response regarding where the clutch brake is) but well see...

Well guys, got the new HE341 today to replace the dusted up wH1C

AND WOW TALK ABOUT PERFECT FIT!

Notta thing was needed and even the wastegate head cleared the block!

Also, all the piping I grabbed from an F600 while junk-diving plugs right in (See intake plumbing)

~M

New HE341 installed:

THE BLADES LOOK AMAZING (Note Silencer ring will come out)

Very Happy with the back end....

All the wastegate head clearence in the world with the Gen 3 turbo.....

4 inch exhaust baby!

Downpipe that also came with the turbo

And a new clamp to boot

Oil Fitting plugged right in!

Oil Drain Plugged right in! (This was off the wH1C)

The big 90* boots I had off of a Ford F600

B-E-A-Utiful

AWESOME!! Hope your flywheel cover/ tranny adapter will fit with that big exhaust. Looks like it will be close.

At least it would be close on my setup.... Don't know if your tranny adapter is similar to mine or not...

Yea it will be close... but the large 4" exhaust looks awesome...

I'm trying to dig up flywheel housings right now...... hard to come by around here in Wisco for under $250.... but I'm working on it.....

Once we get it in the frame well go from there....

~M

EDIT: Better Picture

I should be okay... theres some 'rotation' left in the exhaust I think before I run into a frame rail....

the 6613 is a small bodied trans.,I personally would look for the small bodied 13 w/od,could really make that sucker move down the road,my tandem truck is set up that way and really flies
