Sounds like either an open or shorted sensor on the oil pressure guage, depending on how the manufacture engineered it, it will give full swing on one of those conditions. Disconnect the sensor, and see if it changes, if it is a single wire sensor, short it to ground and see if that changes the reading. (If its a two wire, jumper the two wires together) If neither changes the guage reading, your problem is back towards the guage.

I'm not positive, but on the earlier XJ's I think they got the tach signal from the flywheel sensor. I don't think I had to connect the can signal wire to the crank signal. Mine was a Renix system, so it could be a bit different.

This is most likely the issue. Do not use the crank signal for the cam... look at my build on what to do with the cam. All my gauges still work, crank must be going bad recently as it drops signal when it heats up.

I have the sensor from the flywheel hooked up to the stock wiring. I read this post from evenglass on his thread "I would have spliced the cam into the crank signal but at the time I could only find one person who just briefly stated it would work. I knew 100% the signal would work the way I did it. I would try splicing them together as you did if done again"
so I thought hooking the signals was gonna be the easier way without having to find a cam sensor and take it apart and glue magents on my power steering pump like he did. I have a new sending unit for the oil pressure and when I unhook it the gauge does move so maybe I have a bad sending unit I will grab another one tomorrow after work. As for the tranny I think I wanna use a RADesigns shifter and have it be a full time manual shift. I don't think it will bother me and u don't want to mess with the tcm if I can help from it. I am not the strongest at wiring in to factory systems..

Well I messed with my oil pressure gauge last night with the help of my buddy at work that's a mechanic. He ran the wires and found them to be fine and we put a different cluster I have in it and still is idling at ~70psi.. So I still don't know what's going on there. He did find my crank sensor bad so I have one ordered and should be delivered this afternoon so hopefully I can get the tach working tonight. Floor board is welled in and I have one small patch left and then I'll be bed lining the floor and I can reinstall the seats and finally drive this thing!

Well I got my new crank sensor today and still no luck.. So tomorrow I'll buy some magnets on my powersteering pulley and mount my cam sensor like evenglass did in his thread.

My next question is I have 3 sets of injectors and I would like to rebuild the bigger set I have but I have no way of knowing what they are. I've done some searching on google but not found alot about injector identification. Does anyone have any bigger nozzles on their om617?

The factory nozzles flow more than the 617 can burn. Why do you think you want "bigger nozzles" ? If you want a newer nozzle get Monarchs.
*Sorry I misread your post. Send me a picture of the nozzle holder.

Well I finally took it up and down my drive way and it pulled good and seemed to shift fine. I got my radesigns all in and wired up. Coming back down the driveway it developed a knocking noise and after acloser look it seems to have put a slight warp in the flywheel and mess up the torque converter bolts.. pretty discouraged at this point but I am about to order a new adapter from Mercedesdiesel4x4 i think. Anyone dealt with them or used their adapters?
