Help 96 7.3 fuel leak hard to start
I have a 96 7.3 and since ive owned it its had a bit of a rough idle when cold and a fuel leak from the top of the engine, ive been informed of all the common issues faced with the 96 engine and have already replaced all glowplugs, o-rings, top end hoses, and under cover harnesses, yet i still have a undetecable fuel leak and one hell of a bounce during startups.... someone give me some clues

already inspeced the fuel filter housing for damages.
update:
Fuel leak has gotten worse since repairs were made and almost impossible to start the truck after a night of sitting w/o block heater connected. temp still never below 38F

Have you replaced the rubber gaskets on the fuel supply and return lines? Those tend to rot out. Its not quite and o ring, its more of a seal tha goes over the line, then is compressed by the nut on the fitting. Crummy design, but it works well when it works. . . .

Do you have a location photo, plus i may have found the leak and my fuel knock issue today, a thorough inspection of the underside of the lift pump revealed what looked like a mist in waves, any more ides would be great as well still the thought of bad ipr orings keeps popping up too... i got 261k on the engine as of now

at that mileage IPR or injector Orings can be a possibility for a miss ot hard start. If you are getting a mist from the lift pump area I would say you either have a cracked lift pump or the fittings are leaking.

I will update soon as i can, im looking for parts and tools to remove the lift pump to inspect it in hand.
now back to the ipr, how sensitive is that part to voltage because ive had battery issues recently as well and sometimes it will die mid crank, workin out the bugs in that system as well, biggest problem with batteries is damaged terminal clamps.

I've done this before. Get everything dried up as best as you can then put a couple dry rags under the lift pump and go for a drive. Pull the rags out, if they're wet, get a new lift pump. You might as well get every hose in that valley and just do it all at once, they are a pain to work on.

if anyone knows anyone in the MD area that could get me a lift pump at cost instead of the 30 to 40% markup all these parts stores (criminals) are trying to charge
