Default 24 valve problem

i have a 1998.5 cummins i have a quadzilla adrenaline with pulse. my problem is when i punch it on a high level it will sputter almost like a back fire and some white smoke will come out in stead of the nice black, so i dont punch it any more. just the other day i cranked it up in the morning and it sounds like crap it makes a noise like it is not hitting on every cylinder and when i go down the road and try to give it a fuel it will sputter and white smoke will come out even when im giveing it just a lil thottle. could this be injectors or could it be my vp dieing or ...... please help

sounds like a VP. Give it full throttle and it sputters and white smoke? Same thing happened when mine was dying. I had to shut it off and turn it back on while rolling to get it to stop. Worked most of the time, but not every time. Sucked BIG time when i was going up a hill. Almost like you were in 5th gear going 20mph

Check for codes.

What lift pump are you using? Do you have a fuel pressure guage in the cab?

i bet its the VP, but check your fuel pressure too. your lift pump is probably bad to if you dont have an aftermarket one or havent put one on it or anything. good luck.

if u can punch it on lower levels, but not on higher ones, chances r u were starving the VP44. with the quad turned up it can use more fuel then a wore out stock lift pump can keep up with. chances r u will be needing to replace the vp by now if u have been doing this alot. good luck and let us know what ya figure out

ok still havnt found out what it could be i sorta think it could be a sensor like the map? my pump seems to run good because i changed my fuel filter the other day and it sounded fine when i was primeing it. i also cheaned my iat sensor. is there any other cause that could do this to my truck. it sounds like a really sloppy lope but when i put it in drive it clears up until i give it more that 25 percent thottle help please.

You cant sorta think its the map sensor, you cant sort of think its running good until you get to 25% throttle.

You asked for help again - and were trying to help you - WHAT DOES THE SCANNER SAY ??

If you have a 24V second gen - its absolutely essential that you have a fuel pressure guage in the cab and an OBDII scanner at your disposal (or a SMARTY). Throwing parts at it and replacing things that dont need to be replaced is more expensive than the $100-200 that a scanner costs, JMO.
