If you have a 24V second gen - its absolutely essential that you have a fuel pressure guage in the cab and an OBDII scanner at your disposal. Throwing parts at it and replacing things that dont need to be replaced is more expensive than the $100-200 that a scanner costs, JMO.

bad news .i got home from work and was heading to get the codes to see what was wrong with it. i was about half way there and it just died wont start back up or anything.

With that condition on a warm start it is almost always a VP44 and p0230 or a p0231 sort of condition.

If it starts cold then this is again a indication of this problem. There isn't much that can be done at this point except break out the pocket book.
