Now runs ok but power is down.
Was a rocket from about 1/4 throttle and above 2000 rpm but it always seemed to come on in a stage after 2000 rpm. Now it never kicks and just feels under powered even when trailer is empty. Could the staged "Kick" been a failing fpr and now fpr is stationary?
Leaning toward a failed fpr. But it idles steady.
I have no way to check rail psi but code for low fuel psi does not seam to set as often.
shimmed the pop valve helped delay the code on long pulls .
Can the fpr fail and still drive but lack wot power?
Have apt May 15th at Preble. Just thought I'd do or have the new fpr in hand when I show. Diesel Performance in Ohio
Have to hall freight this week and then a week off before going to Preble I could R+R the fpr. John at Preble suggested the fpr change and call if fixed.
Will ask for loads under 10K lbs. That keeps gross weight at 26K to 28K.where I can still drive without dropping to 3rd on slight grades.
Last, about 3 weeks ago the starter solenoid stuck holding the starter engaged and back feeding voltage to the start position. Before I could get bats disconnected It smoked near the starter which I assume was the starter trashing,
But also got weird sounds from drivers side. Turbo?.
Some dash lights stayed on till batt disconnect.
Tried to get out of delivery point driveway with starter motor still buzzing but not engaged thankfully, but trans would not move. They dragged the whole circus with a dozer till out of way where I could drop trailer and call AAA.
Had it hauled to shop and R+R'd O'Rielly starter under Warranty, (was 4 months old)....... and all seemed well
Thanks,
