Turbo consuming oil?
#1
So I have a 1982 Mazda B2200 with a 2.2 perkins diesel with a Garrett AiResearch t3 turbo off of a 2.3 Ford. I bought it about a week ago and noticed a slight haze when I accelerated of blue smoke. Didn't think much of it. I noticed it was still rolling a little big of coal like it does but it's also a thicker film of oil. So one thing I did was plugged where the pcv would connect post turbo because it was presurizing my crank case and put on a breather for the pcv. I've heard that this could cause a problem with a turbo burning oil. Now I go and drive the truck and it's slowly getting worse and worse (within minutes of driving). One thing I did check also is if my oil level is too high for the return oil line which it isn't. So I pulled the turbo off and saw oil all on the turbine side of the housing obviously where its burning but when I checked in and out shaft play there was none, and I checked side to side shaft play and the compressor side there was a small amount but on the turbine side there was excessive play but it wasn't rubing the housing and I was hearing a sorta liquid moving noise? (like when you slosh a cup of water). SO anyways my question is for you guys, does it seam like that seal on the back side for the turbine of the turbo is shot? Oh and a side note is that the truck didn't smoke at all at idle, only smoked when you accelerated. If anyone can help me justify my problem that would be appropriated.
