2005 F250 6.0 Running Rough After Low Fuel
Hey everyone. Was sitting in a drive thru when my truck started running rough, immediately realized I was low on gas. So i booked it to a station and filled up. Gas light never came on, so that sucked. Anyway, I came home and plugged in my scanner, here are the 3 codes showing up. The scanner I have is the Innova 3100 btw. Im looking to get a "real" scanner/tuner if anyone has suggestions on that as well.
P0299 - Turbo / Super Charger Underboost
P0270 - Cylinder 4 Injector Circuit Low
P0460 - Fuel Level Sensor A Circuit
I JUST replaced the fuel filters last week, and did the blue spring mod as well. And an oil change. Any ideas where I should start?

Replace gas with fuel.
Sct is arguably the best for the 6.0
The only code that worries me is the #4 injector circut low. Generally means either bad wiring, or bad injector

Where should I start troubleshooting? And could this result from low fuel?

I have seen 6.0 injectors be taken out from being run out of fuel. Never just low though
6.0 engines have a tendency to eat injectors.
Start by checking the wires, check the connection. 9 times out of 10 it is a bad injector
What happens on these is when a injector(s) get starved for fuel, the injector piston will slam down inside of the injector and hit the body of the injector on the inside. If it hits hard enough, the damaged injector can bleed off ICP and it can make the other injectors down the line drop out also. Key with the 6.0 is fuel filter changes every 15k
#4 is the second back on the driver side, lucky! It's the easy side to reach

So i tried to inspect the injector harness as best as I could, and I found some damaged wires in the attached photo. This is directly above the connector on the passenger side, closest to the radiator. So i think thats #1 right? Could this wire damage be the culprit for the P0270 - Cylinder 4 Injector Circuit Low?

That is #1, that sure is not helping your cause at all! Get it fixed and see where the engine and codes are at after that is done.
Anything is possible with a 6.0 I have one in my shop that is making my brain hurt!

So I gave in a took it to a diesel mechanic at AMT Performance
And hes what's going on.
Basically My number 4 injector is completely toast, and 3 or my other injectors are on there way out. His suggestion is to replace all 8, because when replacing 4, the old 4 take a beating with other new injectors in the system. He also said that I should only buy injectors from ford, ( 264.29 x 8 = 2114.32 ) because he has had a lot of bad experiences with injectors from o'reilly and other sources.
He also mentioned that he will not replace injectors without installing a dummy plug kit on the high pressure oil rail, because he has had a lot of issues with it leaking after injectors are installed.
He also recommended several other upgrades, but aren't necessary.
Bulletproof FICM - $699.95 + 0$ Labor
EGR Cooler - $488 + $670 Labor
Coolant Change - $40
Oil Change - 180$
Clean the Turbo - 100$ ( Something about cleaning a ring inside )
So yeah, thats a lot of god damn money. At the bare minimum to get the truck running is $3344
Should I try to install the injectors myself? Do I need to do all 8? What would you guys do?
And hes what's going on.

Let's start at the top.
Bulletproof FICM – No
EGR cooler – I do not know where he is getting these prices from I do not know the shop labor but to install a new EGR cooler and it pays eight hours in my opinion if you are going in there you may as welljust do an EGR delete if you do an EGR delete the intake manifold does not need to come out see you can cut the labor time down to about five hours.
With winter coming ain't cool change may not be a bad idea
An oil change is also not a bad idea but you could do it your self and save the money.
As far as injectors go I always install a Carquest injector they seem to hold up very well compared to some of the other aftermarket companies I have used.
If you would like to change all 8 it is not a bad idea but very costly, if you change one and pay the shop to do it is three hours labor plus another half hour for every other injector they do on that side so if you bring it there four times to get 4 injectors done on the same side you will have a 12 hour labor total compard to 4 1/2 hours of it is all done at once , if you do it yourself you can do it one at a time and all it will cost you is your time.
As far as the turbo goes I would just say no
I just put 2 injectors, 2 standpipes and 2, dummy plugs in a 6.0 today
If you do want to tackle this job yourself and you cannot come up with the right information or are having a tough time I can walk you through it step-by-step
I apologize if this is somewhat mixed up I am currently driving and using my Voice to text on my cell phone
