Another Rookie with more ideas than $$$
Great site with SOOOO much good info, I just had to join.
About my rides:
I have a 92 W250 Cummins, 347k miles, slippy auto, just enough smoke to tell its still running and a typical Ohio rusted body. It is getting a body transplant from a 1968 W200 Sweptline. Turns out there is only a couple inches difference in the wheelbase and I can cheat that much and no one will ever know it. I haven't seen one of those bodies on a Cummins chassis, but I am sure I am not the first one with that idea. I'll post pics when I get it back in the shop.
My 1994 2500 4x4 has 270k miles and was bone stock until 15k ago when I got it. I drove it about a month until I put a #5 plate and plugged the wastegate. That first test drive was a blast and I was HOOKED on Cummins power! Over the past 3 years as finances allowed, it got a K&N cold air kit, 5" exhaust, rebuilt the NV4500 with the 5th gear fix (NOT a bigger input shaft), 370 marine injectors, Columbus Diesel's homebrew version of 191 DV's, Valair feramic single disk, multiple NP241 transfer cases (one looked like a grenade went off inside), a leveling kit and a set of 315's on 589 wheels. Most recently, the decision to skip the bigger input shaft bit me in the pants, but thats all better now.
I love wrenching and tweaking on my junk to make it better, faster and stronger. Much more fun than sending it off to a shop and only getting your hands dirty while writing out the check.
Hopefully something I ran across already may help someone else with their ride one day.
Thanks for a great site!
