You planning on building the trans yourself or buying a built one to just put in?

If you just plan on rebuilding it, ie replacing clutches the most mechanicaly inclined people with out any specialized tools can do it. If you want to "build" it then that is a task for the pros. There is a lot more to making an allison hold more HP then clutchs. There is a bunch of trade secrets too.

you should contact Mike L or Big Dipper and discuss what you want and they can lead you in the right direction.

I know Big Dipper is real busy and doesn't normally answer phone calls but i have called Mike L more then once and he was quite helpful. When i spoke to him about building my transmission to hold about 6 or 7 hounded HP he told me it would be a little over $5k

I would try calling Mike L or emailing Big Dipper again and get another quote. It is possible that it was closer $6k because of freight

Good luck Jason
