If I was to put a 350 in it would I have to change the tranny or will it match up

ya it would bolt right up but you would have to put gas governor springs in and a gas ecm but it would work

No governor spring that I know of in it its electronically controlled. To put a 350 in it would still be over $1000 which is more than a new i/p. The only two options I would do would be to fix it and keep going or sell the truck and buy something else.

ya its not governor springs but something in the diesel trannies to keep it from overrevving
i agree i spent 500 on a new pump and the pickup i bought for 1000 is worth at least 3000 now
i would fix it and sell it or sell the long block on ebay and sell the pickup as a roller or for parts

you can get a slightly used hummer diesel engine on ebay for around 2 grand which is the same price a gas engine is going to be after all the labor and different parts your going to have to buy will be be

just got truck back together, she started right up. now twisting the i/p does what for the motor? i remember the las pump i put in someone said something about having to twist the pump to gain something but i dont remember what it was. anyone know? still have to change the glow plugs, will do that tomorrow. thanks for the help guys.

Twisting the i\p just gets them out of time. The timing on these is set electronically and you need to do a timing learn on them. If it runs good how it is and you have no ses light on I would leave it where it is. Glad the trucks running again.

set pump at 12:00 clock then you have go have it with tech II scanner and then you want set at -1.94

but you just leave it at 12:00 clock and do timing relearn al have do is trun key to run hole pedal to floor for 1 min release pedal trun key off for 1 min then start truck it mat run roff for min or so that because it learning
